From Dad's Point of View

Managing Dadhood

Skills

My parents came into town from California this last week so they could visit us all.  They mainly came to see Ellie.  It was a blast.  While here, my dad wanted to take my brother and I to see the movie Taken, so Friday afternoon we saw it.  It changed my life.  The movie was awesome.  But it made me realize something . . . I've got no skills.

If you haven't seen the movie, basically what happens is this guys daughter gets kidnapped, but this guy is kind of a Jack Bauer guy who used to work for the government.  So the whole movie is this guy killing and beating people while trying to find his daughter.

I say I have no skills because if Ellie was ever taken, I wouldn't know how to get her back without calling the police.  I wouldn't know how to track her, and even if I did, once I found
where she was I would probably just get shot by the bad guy.  Not only do I not have skills, I don't have resources.  I need friends in high government positions and in other go
vernment positions that have access to all the information I need about bad guys.  So if anyone that meets this description is looking for friend, here I am.

It's an overwhelming task to think about how far I have to go to get these skills.  I don't know where to start.  I think I'll start by lifting a few weights and trying to get buff.  At least then the bad guys will think I'm tough even if I'm not.  Other than that, maybe I'll take karate lessons or something.  Let's just hope nothing happens to Ellie.

Any ideas on how I can get some better man skills?

Um, I say you just start wearing a black belt and do crazy arm movements sporadically throughout the day. That's intimidating, right? or scary in an all different dimension....

Loved the movie.

You know Mike, you have just forgotten....you just call the grandpas! They have "old man strength" and old man wisdom to get the job done! Fun day at the movies. Loved being with you all and getting smiles from darling Ellie. Hurry to Cal! Love, Dad

You could always join the military. But, I agree with the calling the Grandpas. My grandpa could kick anyones butt and he's loosing his sight. And then there's my Dad. He's in the military and he has a black belt. You don't want to mess with that guy...no way;)

I am not sure Rick and Sean would be any help! Sorry. Hey... If some spanish bad guys are in the picture you can talk to them! See? You do have skills! hahaha. You're funny.
Love you Mikey

I don't think I would rely on old man strength. Just don't let Ellie out of your sight. I think Debra's idea might work.
